Our Mission & ValuesLoving life. Living Faith. Looking Forward. At Horizon School, Our Mission is: Loving Life, Living Faith, Looking Forward. Our school mission of Loving Life, Living Faith and Looking Forward and our values are interwoven with the concepts and information investigated and skills developed in a normal school day. We focus on inspiring the learners to develop both a Love for Life and Loving Life throughout our learning programmes. We also seek to encourage in the children a Living Faith that this world is more than matter and that it is held together by an awesome God whose love draws us. Through our learning programmes we are actively Looking Forward, in order to best prepare our learners for their futures rather than our pasts, and to equip them to contribute in their world both now and in years to come. It is our goal that learners who leave our school will -love life and be practised at living loving lives - demonstrating love for themselves, others, the world and God. It is our expectation that this will engender a sense of wonder and awe at our wonderful world, the uniqueness of individuals and the creativity of God, and that love will be evidenced by a desire to respond with honour and service. -live with faith - because they have been inspired rather than coerced, they will have an authentic faith in God, resulting in courage to grow personally through the challenges of life and learning, build strong relationships, and make the world a better place -look forward to the future with curiosity about themselves, others, the world, problems and how to solve them, and big life questions and with a desire to contribute with justice within our community, our environment and our wider world. Our young people are in an environment which gives them every opportunity to become confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners with love, faith and hope. "I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to be given the chance to work at Horizon School and have been made to feel a valued team member by all the staff. The school has a caring, supportive and inclusive nature and provides a wonderful environment in which children and adults can learn and grow." Toni Waddell, Teacher Aide "The illiterate of the future are not those who can’t read or write but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Alvin Toffler |
