WELCOME TO HORIZON

Where possibility is our heartbeat

Horizon is a welcoming, vibrant school environment in Snells Beach with a holistic approach to learning from primary right through to college.

Horizon speaks of the journey we guide children on – the journey of learning, growth, and faith. It speaks of numerous possibilities spreading out before our students as they step into the world. Our Christian foundations nurture a sense of identity and purpose in young people, equipping them to live life to the full and to grow academically while also experiencing the wonder of God all around them.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Year 1-6 is focused on foundations for learning that allow children to thrive. In our environment children feel a sense of belonging and are loved by their teachers and peers. Children are free to be themselves, love learning, and risk failure and growth without fear. We believe that with wide experience, and the ability to talk about those experiences, children can grow in confidence, which forms the basis for all future learning.

JUNIOR COLLEGE

Year 7-10 students learn how to think like scientists and authors, artists and mathematicians, sports people and psychologists. With insights from real world professionals, we develop critical and creative thinking skills to enable learners to see the relevance of their learning to all of life, and the foundational skills to engage deeply with subjects they will one day study for NCEA. All this, in an environment in which they are truly known, seen and heard!

SENIOR COLLEGE

Learning in senior college is relevant, authentic and engaging. Learners participate in Formation Learning, Connected Learning and Enriched Learning to develop their skills, see the connections between learning areas and with real life contexts and gain credits. We prepare students well for university, business or trades and to use their learning in meaningful ways to live full lives and enrich the local community.

At Horizon the teachers care deeply about each child, and make building strong relationships with their students a priority. This enables them to individualise learning opportunities and helps ensure that children are engaged and excited about their learning.
